The JOERGER ENTERPRISES, INC. MODEL QVSC contains four completely
independent, 300Mhz counters in a 19" rack mounted instrument. It features direct
counting without the use of prescaling. Each channels output is on eight, .8"
displays with leading edge suppression for easy reading. The operating modes are selected
by switches which can chose counter modes with synchronous gate times of .01, .1, 1, or 10
seconds or a scaler mode. A ± .01% crystal oscillator is
provided to guarantee high performance operation. A test mode is provided that tests each
channel in its selected operating mode. During scaler operation all the LED’s are
tested by displaying all "8’s" in the reset mode.
In the scaler mode the channels selected can be controlled either
manually by a gate and reset switch, or remotely via rear panel signals. These control
signals are all buffered so that the units can be daisy chained using one as a master and
the other as slaves. An overflow LED is provided for each channel as well as rear panel
overflow signals.
As an option, channel 4 can be operated in a preset mode. A rear panel
rotary switch is provided to select the output of decades 2 through 8. When the selected
decade overflows, a stop signal is generated which can be used to control the system. This
feature does not effect the performance of channel 4 which may be used to its full
capability.

CONTROL SIGNALS:
Start/Stop/Reset Inputs |
Start, Stop and Reset inputs require either a positive 3.5
volt signal 1usec wide or a short to ground. The inputs are on the rear panel with each
consisting of two BNC connectors that are bridged to facilitate daisy chaining units for
common control. |
Start/Stop/Reset Outputs |
Start, Stop and Reset outputs are available at rear panel
BNC's. A +4 volt signal is generated in response to either a manual or electrical input
for each signal. A Stop signal is also generated in response to the preselect mode. This
allows one scaler to control other scalers in the system. |
Carry Out |
Carry Outputs are available at rear panel NBC’s. They
are negative going signals capable of generating -500mv into 50 ohms. |
MANUAL CONTROLS:
Start-Stop |
A three position switch is provided to
start and stop all four channels. |
Reset |
A push-button is provided to reset all
four channels. This switch is also used to test the display. When the switch is depressed
all eights will appear on the display. |
Test |
A test switch is provided that injects
test signals into all four channels after the counting gate. |
PRESELECT MODE:
A preselect mode is available. It uses Channel 4 as the control channel. Any decade
overflow from decade 2 through 8 can be selected by a rear panel switch. When the selected
digit overflows a stop output signal is generated. If this signal is connected to the stop
input, all four channels will be inhibited at that time. To disable, set to
"OFF".
